Mark Jenkin’s Rose of Nevada on Blu-ray/DVD and digital platforms from the BFI in August
Unique among British feature directors for the analogue methods with which he crafts his films, Cornish filmmaker Mark Jenkin is once again writer, director, director of photography, editor, sound designer and composer on Rose of Nevada, his critically acclaimed follow-up to his Bafta-winning Bait (2019) and 2022’s Enys Men.
After a very successful run at UK & Irish cinemas, Rose of Nevada will be released on Blu-ray/DVD by the BFI on 24 August with extras including an audio commentary by Mark Jenkin and Mark Kermode, and a filmed Q&A with Mark Jenkin, George MacKay and Callum Turner from BFI Southbank.
When the Rose of Nevada, a fishing boat lost with all hands decades earlier, mysteriously reappears in the harbour of a faded Cornish village, it seems to be a sign. The boat, it’s decided, must be put to sea again if the fortunes of the down-at-heel community are to be revived. Young father Nick (George MacKay) and enigmatic newcomer Liam (Callum Turner) join skipper Murgey (Francis Magee) and head out on their strange voyage. But when they return, it is to a place disquietingly different from the one they left behind.
Rose of Nevada will be released on Dual Format Blu-ray & DVD, and on BFI Player, Apple TV and Amazon Prime by the BFI on 24 August 2026 at the RRP of 19.99 for the Dual Format release.
