Nosferatu the Vampyre

In My Skin

Aguirre, The Wrath of God

Robert Shaw and Sarah Miles are at their finest as a chauffeur and the emotionally damaged woman he befriends in The Hireling, an acutely observed and superbly acted adaptation of L.P. Hartley’s novel. Slarek sits up front with the driver for Indicator’s recently released Blu-ray.
Wake in Fright

Directed by Ted Kotcheff in 1970, all but lost for many years, Wake in Fright is a major film from near the start of the Australian Film Revival of the Seventies, now restored in 4K and released in UHD and Blu-ray by Umbrella. Gary Couzens gets the beers in.
The Old Dark House

Released the same day as its UHD edition of High Noon, Eureka’s 2018 Blu-ray edition of James Whales glorious horror-comedy The Old Dark House has also been given a 4K upgrade. Slarek has updated his original review to include details of this new release.
High Noon

One of the all-time great westerns is also one of the most thematically and stylistically rewarding, a film that broke genre rules and revitalised the career of its star. Slarek revisits the superb High Noon on Eureka’s superb Blu-ray and finds whole new layers of meaning to explore and appreciate.
