Dario Argento’s The Card Player on 4K UHD, Blu-ray & Digital from Shameless in August
Dario Argento deals a different kind of giallo with the 2003 The Card Player [Il cartaio]. A sadistic, faceless killer snatches women off the streets of Rome and forces the police into a sickening game: play him at poker. If they win, the victim survives. If they lose, then the victim dies and it’s over, live on screen.
Stefania Rocca (The Talented Mr Ripley) and Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) chase a ghost in the machine in a film that feels more relevant now than ever – a story about watching, being watched, and who’s really in control of the screen.
Presented in a new 4K restoration with Dolby Vision HDR, this Limited Edition UHD from Shameless is loaded with extras. The film will also be released on Blu-ray and made available on Digital platforms.
The Card Player will be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital platforms by Shameless Films on 10 August 2026 at the pre-order price of £29.00 and can be ordered directly from the Shameless website.
