The Snake Woman & Dr. Blood’s Coffin on Hammer Blu-ray in May
Hammer Films has announced two more titles to be released on Limited Edition Blu-ray under its new ‘Hammer Presents’ strand, The Snake Woman and Dr. Blood’s Coffin. Both films were released in 1961 and both were directed by Sidney J., Furie, he of The leather Boys (1964), The Ipcress File (1965), The Boys in Company C (1978) and The Entity (1982). Both were also produced by the short-lived Caralan Productions Ltd.

An Edwardian detective investigates a series of venomous deaths in this thrilling monster horror from award-winning director Sidney J. Furie. Featuring superstitious villagers, murderous hags, a supernatural wild spirit and a modern take on “the other” in society, The Snake Woman has been painstakingly restored by Hammer from scans from the original film negatives.
Controlling his wife’s madness with regular doses of snake venom, Dr Adderson is horrified when she dies giving birth to an unblinking daughter who is cold to the touch. The demented midwife, chased out of the house after trying to murder the baby, returns with an angry mob who set the house ablaze.

A man goes missing in the sleepy village of Porthcarron – the latest victim in a series of horrifying medical experiments carried out by the arrogant and maniacal Dr Peter Blood. Fixated on creating life from death, Blood is determined that his gift is only for those he considers worthy – at the cost of those he doesn’t.
